Dr.  Loh’s group is focusing on RNA-mediated molecular mechanisms that are involved in bacterial pathogenesis. The pathogen of research is Neisseria meningitidis and we utilise a wide variety of genetic, cell biological and biochemical methods and techniques. The research in Dr. Loh’s group focuses on the regulation of sRNAs and their gene expression patterns during various biological stress conditions. Central to this research are characterisation of novel sRNAs and their roles in Neisserial pathogenesis as well as regulation of immune evasion factors. 

Duties
We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher with a Ph.D. in Microbiology in bacterial pathogenesis. The applicant will conduct research within the field of Neisserial pathogenesis with the focus on Neisserial sRNA interactions with host cells.

Entry requirements
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence.

Highly motivated candidates with consistent experience in RNA biology (purification and expression), microbial molecular biology and cloning, are encouraged to apply. Successful candidate should have strong organizational skills with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously and must have experience working with aerosol borne pathogens in a biosafety level 2 plus (BSL-2+) laboratory. Extensive experience in working with radioactive methods such as Northern blotting and primer extension is appreciated. The candidate´s personal skills will be highly valued as the position requires strong scientific interactions with other researchers within the group.
