Karolinska Institutet,

The Department of Cell and Molecular Biology (CMB) is a department with a strong focus on basic science. CMB conducts research and education in cell biology, molecular biology, developmental biology, stem cell biology, cancer and infection biology.

Division
A postdoctoral position is available in the lab of Thomas Perlmann at the department of Cell and Molecular Biology at Karolinska Institutet. The group is interested in how specific cell types in the brain are generated. We are primarily focusing on dopamine neurons and we are unraveling the signaling and transcriptional regulation that govern the specification, differentiation and maintenance of these cells. The studies have resulted in the identification of several transcription factors with key roles in these processes. Moreover, we are also interested in regenerative medicine in relation to Parkinson´s disease and other brain disorders. We are using mouse genetics and methods such as single cell RNA sequencing in our studies. In collaborative projects we also focus on development and maintenance of dopamine neurons in the human brain.

We now have an opening for a postdoc in projects devoted to questions concerning the potential for neurogenesis of dopamine neurons in the adult brain.

Duties
The newly recruited postdoc will take responsibility for an independent project and work with participating collaborators within and outside the group. Duties include project planning and execution of experiments. Lab work in possible projects include cell culture, histology, single cell RNA sequencing, bioinformatics and animal mouse work."

Entry requirements
The applicant should be a highly motivated individual who can collaborate, communicate and function well in a team. We are looking for an individual with a PhD in neuroscience, stem cells or developmental biology, and with skills preferably in more than one of the following areas: human embryonic stem cells, mouse genetics, bioinformatics and histological methods.

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence.

Application process
An employment application must contain the following documents in English or Swedish:

A complete curriculum vitae, including date of the thesis defence, title of the thesis, previous academic positions, academic title, current position, academic distinctions, and committee work

  1. A complete list of publications
  2. A summary of current work (no more than one page)

The application is to be submitted through the Varbi recruitment system.
