Chronic inflammation is a critical residual risk for the health to CVD transition with limited possibilities to stop it without causing immunosuppression. To tackle this issue, the research group Translational Cardiology at the Department of Medicine Solna propose to identify the resolution of inflammation. As chronic inflammation and CVD are driven and regulated by several factors, this research assistant project will focus on the anti-inflammatory pathway’s relationship with calcific aortic valve stenosis.
Assistant research studies with participation in all aspects of work at the laboratory of the Translational Cardiology research group. The project includes both epidemiology and bioinformatics, as well as molecular biology and in vivo and in vitro studies.
MSc in muscular and cardiovascular science with experience in molecular and cellular biology, immunohistochemistry. A background in biotechnology/bioengineering as well as the required formal competence for clinical experiments is particularly meritorious. For this project, specific knowledge of genetic studies will be required. To be eligible for employment as a research assistant a MSc degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a MSc degree is required.

The position is located within the research group Translational Cardiology, which is specialized in the resolution of cardiovascular inflammation. Our activities range from clinical trials and epidemiology to experimental research with advanced molecular biology. The group is part of two large EU consortia with a focus on inflammation in cardiovascular diseases.
