The Lopez laboratory, in the Department of Neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet, has an open position for a Research Assistant to investigate the molecular mechanisms and complex social behaviors associated with rapid-acting antidepressant treatments. The project involves the implementation of animal models of stress and anxiety and requires the analysis of multimodal high-throughput molecular and behavioral data, to deconstruct the underlying mechanisms responsible for antidepressant treatment response.

Your mission

Suitable candidates should have significant experience working with laboratory animals (mice) and possess good knowledge of animal models of stress and anxiety. Good experience in molecular biology and animal behavior is required. The candidate should possess FELASA-certified knowledge and skills. In addition, candidates must have advanced computational skills and knowledge of “Python” or “R”. Previous hands-on experience with the analysis of automatic behavioral tracking or pose estimation tools (e.g., DeepLabCut, or SLEAP), is a plus. Furthermore, candidates with knowledge or experience with machine learning methods will be prioritized. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work in a stimulating and collaborative environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure.

Your profile

Qualified to be employed as a research assistant is one who has obtained at least a Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, psychology, pharmacology, or any related field. It is considered as an advantage if you have already completed your Master’s degree. 

Fluency in English (spoken and written) is a requirement.
