Do you want to contribute to better health for all?

Within our research group you will find a unique opportunity to work with cutting edge research in the intersection between circadian rhythms, metabolism and neuroendocrinology. We offer an engaging and international research environment where you may contribute to high quality research on an internationally competitive level.

Your mission

Our group is an integral part of the unit of endocrinology at the department of medicine in Huddinge and is led by Paul Petrus. We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher interested in circadian biology and metabolism. You will work on a project combining bioinformatic analyses as well as functional characterization using murine in vivo systems. You will be involved in designing and conducting simulated shift-work/jet lag experiments in mice followed by metabolic phenotyping using metabolic cages and ex vivo analyses. The metabolic changes observed in mice with perturbed circadian rhythms will be compared to other circadian datasets to identify clinically relevant processes that will be manipulated in down-stream experiments. The position provides an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to apply their expertise in metabolism and excel in the space between bioinformatics, bench work and animal work. The goal of our research is to design interventions targeting the circadian system with therapeutic relevance for metabolic diseases.

Your profile

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate. The applicant is expected to have a documented research experience within the field of metabolism. Candidates with expertise in adipose tissue and liver biology will be prioritized. Prior work using mouse models is a requirement and experience with metabolic- and/or behavioural- phenotyping is a plus. We are looking for a postdoc with the following profile:

  • Bioinformatic experience working with RNA-seq and metabolomics data using R.
  • Experience in managing and handling mouse colonies.
  • Basic wet-lab experience (isolating RNA/DNA/protein, performing Western blots, qPCR etc.)
  • Strong background in the field of metabolism and experience working with liver and white adipose tissue.
  • Experience working with circadian rhythms is a plus.
