In our research group, you will find a unique opportunity to work together with top researchers in the intersection between psychology and neuroscience to jointly try to understand how the human sense of smell works. To achieve this goal, we conduct various research projects that try to link odor perception to brain processing using several different methods, including electrophysiological (EEG), functional and structural brain imaging, as well as behavior and psychophysical measurements. We offer an engaging and international research environment where you get an opportunity to contribute to high-quality research at the highest international level.
As a postdoctoral fellow in the group, you will lead a new project that aim to determine how the human brain processes odors through electrophysiological measurements. Our research group has developed a new method that allows measurements from the human olfactory bulb and olfactory cortex with EEG. We want to use this method, in combination with intracranial measurements from olfactory regions in patients undergoing brain surgery, to determine the role of the olfactory bulb and olfactory cortex in odor perception and how the sense of smell interacts with other senses. You will also be able to pursue your own research questions within the framework of our general research program. With the help of research assistants, you will be responsible for setting up experiments, analyzing data and writing scientific articles where the results are reported.
As a postdoctoral fellow, you are offered the opportunity to work in a successful and well-funded research group with a number of senior and junior researchers. Our research group collaborates with a number of prominent research groups around the world, which provides an opportunity for international exchanges.
We are looking for a talented, innovative, and enthusiastic researcher with a PhD in a relevant research field. The successful candidate should have previous well-documented research experience of working with advanced EEG/MEG analyzes or other advanced experimental electrophysiology or related research experiences. It is particularly desirable, but not necessary, if you have good and academically documented knowledge of collection, as well as analysis of data from intracranial electrodes from animals or humans. The successful candidate should have published in high-quality international peer-reviewed journals. English is the main language of communication in the research group, therefore it is a requirement to have strong English skills in writing and speaking.
Potential candidates will be interviewed and personal skills and characteristics will be considered when filling the position. Employment as a postdoctoral fellow requires a PhD degree or equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate degree at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
The exact date of employment is determined in discussion with the selected candidate.
