We offer an engaging and international research environment where you will have the opportunity to contribute to high quality research at international top level. A postdoctoral position is available within the Obsessive-Compulsive and related Disorders Across the Lifespan research group, where you will find a unique opportunity to work closely with top researchers in the field. Our research program aims to understand the causes and consequences of obsessive-compulsive and related disorders using a variety of methods such as genetic epidemiology and brain imaging.
You will be linked to Professor Mataix-Cols’s research group at CPF (Centre for psychiatry research). Professor Mataix-Cols’ group conducts multi-disciplinary research (e.g., biological, clinical, social, epidemiological) in the areas of obsessive-compulsive and related disorders. The postdoctoral researcher will be involved in the register-based epidemiological projects exploring the role of psychiatric disorders in intergenerational socioeconomic attainment, with a particular emphasis on the effect of non-random (assortative) mating amongst persons with psychiatric disorders on socioeconomic outcomes of the next generation. The research projects will also include studying the risk factors of psychiatric disorders of interest, impact of such disorders in health and social outcomes, and mortality.
As a postdoctoral researcher you will be involved in all parts of the projects, ranging from generating own research ideas, to acquisition and management of data from large population-based registers, statistical data analysis, and writing scientific publications and grant proposals. The postdoctoral researcher will have plenty of opportunity to develop his/her own ideas and will be encouraged to do so. The applicant will have full access to the infrastructure of the CNS Department at Karolinska Institutet and to the Swedish population registers.
This is a temporary full-time position for the period of 1 year with a possibility of extension for another year.
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
Qualifications:
In addition, the candidate should be able to take initiative, ensure that project goals are consistently met, be flexible to manage projects effectively, and be comfortable having parallel activities. The applicant must be able to integrate well into the international and multidisciplinary environment. Personal suitability is therefore of great importance.
