Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

To be a postdoctoral fellow means to devote oneself to a research project under supervision of the group leader following a research plan but also to supervise students that join our research group. The successful postdoctoral fellow will gain knowledge and research experience in lymphoma biology and the mechanisms regulating anti-tumor responses in hematologic malignancies. Our research laboratory and the facilities in Bioclinicum (Solna) provide an excellent environment for cancer research.

Your mission

Your mission as a postdoc is to perform high quality research independently in all stages from   the design of experiments and laboratory-based work to publication. The projects will be carried out in collaboration with other group members of our Laboratory as well as other research groups in Bioclinicum and core facilities in ScilifeLab.

The postdoc is expected to use a variety of in vitro and in vivo models of lymphomas and leukemias including cell cultures, PDX (patient derived xenografts) and mouse models in order to investigate mechanisms of lymphomagenesis and mechanisms underlying anti-tumor immune responses in hematologic malignancies. The postdoc is expected to supervise graduate students and other members of the research group in their experimental work.

In addition, the postdoc is expected to carry out studies investigating the prognostic significance of certain biomarkers in lymphomas and leukemias using immunohistochemical methods. Also, the clinical significance of mutations and other genetic alterations of the genes of interest will be investigated by the postdoc in collaboration with core facilities at Karolinska Institutet, which analyse the clinical samples.

Your profile

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.

The postdoctoral fellow should have a biomedical background with very strong interest in the field of hematologic malignancies. Very good knowledge of cancer biology and pathology would be an asset. Documented previous two-year laboratory experience in a molecular biology or immunology laboratory, preferably at the post-graduate level, is necessary. Excellent skills in basic molecular biology techniques (DNA, RNA and protein level) and immunohistochemical methods as well as use of in vitro and in vivo study models of cancer are highly preferable.

Good knowledge in the field of lymphoma/leukemia pathology, biology and prognosis is highly desirable. Ideally, previous research would be documented with relevant presentations in major international congresses or publications. Good knowledge of basic statistical methods is also desirable.

The successful candidate should also demonstrate excellent english language and communication skills as well as the ability to work efficiently as part of a team.
