The Department of Biosciences and Nutrition performs research and education in several areas of medical science including aging, molecular endocrinology, cancer biology, functional genomics, systems biology, epigenetics, structural biochemistry, bioorganic chemistry, cellular virology, and nutrition. It offers an excellent international research and working environment, including around 250 scientists, students, administrative and technical personnel. The Department resides in the new biomedical research building Neo, aimed at being a creative and open environment that enables meetings, synergies, and exploration of areas of mutual interest across disciplines.

Your mission

The group of professor Janne Johansson is seeking a post-doc for one year studies of molecular chaperone mechanisms related to inhibition of amyloid toxicity as well as non-fibrillar protein aggregation, https://ki.se/en/bionut/protein-biochemistry-for-development-of-novel-medical-treatments-janne-johansson . The work is focused on design and execution of experimental biochemical and biophysical studies and require a high degree of independence and ability to collaborate with other research groups.

This position is for one year.

Qualifications

Strong experience of recombinant protein expression and purification, spectroscopic methods like CD and fluorescence correlation measurements, and electron microscopy analyses is required. Practical experience of work with molecular chaperones is a strong merit. Good ability to communicate in written and spoken English, strong innovative drive and collaborative competence are required.

Emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Your profile

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
