Division
The Lendahl laboratory is interested in the Notch signaling pathway in various organ systems and how dysregulated Notch signaling leads to cancer. We use several different approaches to study Notch signaling, including in vivo models and various cell and molecular biology technologies, including cell culture systems and reporter assays for monitoring Notch downstream signaling activity.

Duties
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic researcher with a strong background in Notch signaling. The research project will focus on the study of the downstream aspects of Notch signaling and how Notch signaling can be modulated by pharmacological approaches. Reporter assays recording the level of Notch signaling will be used to screen libraries of small compounds in a robotized high throughput fashion.

The project will also involve cell culture-based assays of various aspects of Notch signaling as well as in vivo analysis in mouse models. The successful applicant will be responsible for setting up and organizing the project and supervising direct reports. The project involves extensive collaboration with industry, so background knowledge in industrial collaborations will be crucial.

Entry requirements
The successful applicant should hold a PhD in Molecular Biology with a strong publication record in the area of Notch signaling and at least four years of previous postdoctoral experience. The applicant must have extensive training in a broad spectrum of techniques to monitor and modulate Notch signaling, both in vitro and in vivo, including transgenic mouse technology, immunohistochemistry, qPCR analysis, ChIP-seq analysis, cloning, FACS, genome editing (CRISPR/Cas9) and small compound screening.

The applicant must also be proficient in establishing reporter assays for high throughput screening of small compound libraries and in handling and analyzing small compound libraries. The applicant must be fluent in English (both spoken and written). Basic knowledge of German is a plus, as the project is a collaboration with a Germany-based company.

The successful applicant must have a strong problem-solving analytical ability as well as being flexible and well structured. A person is eligible to be appointed Researcher if he or she has been awarded a Degree of Doctor or has achieved the corresponding scientific competence.

Meriting
Prior experience working with Notch signaling, reporter assays in a high throughput format and analysis of Notch signaling in mouse models is a merit.

Bases of assessment
We stress research expertise when assessing applicants.
