The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics conducts research in epidemiology and biostatistics across a broad range of areas within biomedical science. The department is among the largest of its type in Europe and has especially strong research profiles in psychiatric, cancer, reproductive, pediatric, pharmaco, genetic, and geriatric epidemiology, eating disorders, precision medicine, and biostatistics.

Part of the success of our department is due to our collaborative spirit where one factor is that researchers at the Department share and co-finance common resources (e.g., IT and an applied biostatistics group). The position is part of the strategic effort in e-science (Swedish e-Science Research Center; http://www.e-science.se/), specifically the project eCPC (e-science for Cancer Prevention and Control; http://e-science.se/community/eCPC) at MEB, KI. Collaboration with the Linné Centre for Prevention of Breast and Prostate Cancer, CRisP (http://crispcenter.org/) at KI and with the SciLifeLab is vital. The main focus of the project is SNP identification, tumour DNA sequencing, clinical sequencing of several different cancers and data integration and development of clinical diagnostics.

Eligibility/qualifications
We are looking for a person with a keen interest and documented experience in the analysis of genetic data. We want you to have an ample experience of different GWAS methods and the analysis of data from high-throughput sequencing. We would prefer if you had a background in complex diseases/cancer. Experience in tumour sequencing is especially advantageous. The applicant should be skilled in the writing of scientific papers and funding applications. Experience of working in an international environment and excellent knowledge of both written and spoken English is a prerequisite. The position requires a person with great energy and the ability to work independently, but at the same be able to collaborate with others, emphasis will therefore be put on individual suitability.

Entry requirements
A person is eligible for a postdoc position if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc.
