Division
The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics (MBB) conducts research in basic science, particularly focusing on discovering the mechanisms that cause diseases. The candidate will be part of the division of Vascular Biology.

Research group and project
Two postdoctoral position are available in the lab of Professor Ulf Eriksson at Karolinska Institutet, one of the world’s leading biomedical research institutes. The focus in the lab is in the field of vascular biology in relation to metabolic disorders. We are interested in identifying mechanisms that regulate blood vessel formation and function. The aim is to find new ways of interfering with these processes to treat human disease. The main focuses is how vascular growth factors including VEGF-B, PDGF-C and PDGF-D signals to cells of blood vessels and control different blood vessel function in metabolic diseases.

Area of responsibilities
We are looking for highly motivated postdoctoral researchers to participate in our research with focus on vascular biology in metabolic disorders. The successful applicant will join an exciting research program carried out in collaboration with both local and international research groups and with commercial entities.
The holders of the positions are expected to independently plan and perform experimental work including animal experiments as well as assisting other postdoctoral fellows and senior researchers. It is expected that the holder of the position will publish research results in top quality scientific journals.

Qualifications
Specific responsibilities and requirements:

  • The applicant should possess a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in medical science, biomedical sciences, or a related discipline with a good publication record.
  • Those with experience in vascular biology and with great experience in animal work would have an advantage
  • Applicants should be highly motivated and good team players.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English is required.
  • Excellent IT skills
