The Department of Medicine, Solna, is one of the largest departments at Karolinska Institutet. The department consists of several divisions that are separated into different research groups. The core activities of the department are research, doctoral education and undergraduate education for medical and biomedical students. The research has three main profiles: allergy, cardiovascular medicine and inflammatory diseases.
Division
The Division of Clinical Epidemiology at the Department of Medicine Solna at Karolinska Institutet has an opening for a postdoc position working with Associate Professor Elizabeth Arkema on reproductive outcomes in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The postdoc will work within a larger research group in chronic inflammatory epidemiology. We are approximately 20 people (doctoral students, postdocs, assistant professors, senior researchers) with different backgrounds but with common research interests, namely the study of chronic inflammatory diseases using Swedish national registers and clinical data. We are seeking a talented and motivated postdoctoral fellow with training and experience in epidemiology and biostatistics.
Duties
The postdoctoral work will focus on pregnancy outcomes in patients with systemic lupus and their children using large population-based register data. Our goal is to examine the consequences of SLE and SLE-related treatment on fertility, pregnancy outcomes, and adverse events in offspring.
The postdoctoral fellow will work with the international research team to design and conduct research relevant to the research group’s agenda while receiving advanced training to enhance professional skills and research independence. The postdoc’s time will be devoted to data management, analysis, manuscript preparation and career development. There are no teaching requirements but opportunities to teach can be facilitated.
Entry requirements
The successful candidate will have a strong background in epidemiology and statistical modeling with an interest in reproductive and perinatal epidemiology and/or autoimmune disease research. Key skills include epidemiologic study design, longitudinal and survival modeling, and manuscript writing.
