Karolinska Institutet,

The Department of Cell and Molecular Biology (CMB) is a department with a strong focus on basic science. CMB conducts research and education in cell biology, molecular biology, developmental biology, stem cell biology, cancer and infection biology.

Division
We are seeking talented and enthusiastic researchers with expertise in chemical biology and cell signaling to advance drug discovery efforts and investigations on death receptor signaling and physiology in cancer cells. The research entails studies on the p75NTR death receptor using chemical, molecular and cellular biology methods in cell culture models, as well as preclinical mouse models of melanoma and glioma, with the objective to identify and characterize promising chemical leads for the treatment of these cancers. Please see Goh et al. (2018) Cell Chemical Biology 25, 1485-1494 for a representative publication of this work (carlosibanezlab.se/Publications).

Entry requirements
Candidates will be accepted at the postdoctoral level with a PhD awarded preferably within the last 5 years. Strong and documented expertise in molecular and cellular methods as applied to studies of cell signaling and chemical biology is a requirement for consideration. Candidates with documented expertise in medicinal chemistry are specially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate is expected to be sufficiently independent to formulate questions, design experiments and perform research.

Application process
An employment application must contain the following documents in Swedish or English:

Application, including CV, list of publications and statement of research interests. Applicants should arrange to have at least two confidential letters of reference sent independently by referees to Prof. Carlos Ibanez (carlos.ibanez@ki.se).
