A part-time postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Crosetto Laboratory (https://bienkocrosettolabs.org/) with the goal of studying genetic heterogeneity in lung cancer and corresponding brain metastases. The position is funded by a grant from the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research awarded to Dr Crosetto to develop novel approaches for integrated visualization of intra-tumor heterogeneity.

Division
The Crosetto laboratory is located at SciLifeLab Stockholm (www.scilifelab.se), an interdisciplinary center for life sciences featuring state-of-the-art facilities and a broad range of groups working at the interface between biology, medicine, and computational sciences.

Duties
The successful candidate will have to carry out the following tasks:

  • DNA extraction and library preparation from large sample cohorts obtained in the frame of international collaborations
  • Exome capture
  • NGS on NextSeq 500
  • NGS data analysis (CNVs, mutations, fusions, etc.)
  • Tissue scanning and image analysis to identify different cell types using deep learning methods
  • Development of custom capture probes to assess mutations in selected fragile regions of the genome identified by the method BLISS developed in the Crosetto lab (Yan et al, Nat Commun 2017)

Entry requirements

  • PhD in medical science obtained no more than five years before the application deadline
  • Demonstrated prior expertise with mutation analysis and NGS in lung cancer
  • Demonstrated prior experience with molecular methods, optimization, and troubleshooting
  • Experience of working in clinical environment (prior work on lung cancer, pulmonology or diagnostic laboratory)
  • Experience in managing of research projects
  • Scientific experience in the field of lung cancer documented by publications and communications at international conferences
  • A strong motivation to work in a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative environment, and willingness to interact with scientists with computational background

 Application process

An employment application must contain the following documents in English:

  • A complete curriculum vitae, including date of the thesis defence, title of the thesis, previous academic positions, academic title, current position
