The INCF Secretariat is hiring a Scientific Funding Officer
Join the INCF Secretariat at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. The International Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility is an OECD-launched international organization, which coordinates standards for neuroscience including an international collaborative research data infrastructure.
The Secretariat is based at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden and we now seek a friendly, positive and service-oriented team-player to join our team as a Scientific Funding Officer.
The ideal candidate will possess expertise in international funding coordination and will lead in identifying and applying for funding to sustain INCF’s international coordination activities, as well as supporting its Nodes in gaining funding for their national activities. The role also involves supporting INCF’s seed funding award process. You will report to the INCF Executive Director.
Area of responsibilities/duties
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
Required:
MSc and 3 years of related experience or PhD and 2 years of related experience
2 years’ experience working in a role related to scientific funding, such as a Program Officer in a funding agency or working with international grants in a university Grants Office.
Desired:
Experience in the international funding arena
SKILLS
Required:
Intimate knowledge of the competitive funding process, ideally from the perspectives of both an applicant and funding agency
Strong scientific background
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Ability to work in an agile, dynamic environment, grasping complex systems/tasks.
Ability to manage project milestones and budgets
Comfortable and clear in communications with people from science and administration
A result- and service- oriented approach, taking ownership for actions
A focus on delivering quality solutions
Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English.
Desired:
Background in neuroscientific research and/or funding
Evidence of taking initiative and developing novel solutions
A fast learner and a problem solver with an optimistic approach to challenges.
Emphasis will be put on expertise, interpersonal skills, and initiative.
Travel Statement
This position may require occasional overnight international travel and involve some irregular working hours due to collaboration in different time-zones.
The position is full-time, based at Karolinska Institute with a 12 month contract and the possibility for prolongation based on outcomes.
