Do you want to contribute to improving human health?

Our research is internationally recognized for the development and evaluation of AI for radiological breast cancer diagnostics with recent publications in Nature, Lancet Digital Health, Radiology, MICCAI, among others. Our group has expertise in radiology, biostatistics and machine learning. We have a strong collaboration with research groups at KTH, and internationally with a group at UC Berkeley.

We are now looking to recruit one research assistant.

Your mission

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to join our group — aiming at an interdisciplinary research program focused on developing AI-assisted decision support tools for clinicians involved in Multidisciplinary Tumor Boards (MTBs) in oncology. The goal is to integrate clinical text, structured EHR data, and imaging outputs into a collaborative AI framework. This work is at the intersection of machine learning, clinical data science, and precision oncology, and is aligned with planned PhD projects.

Your tasks may include:

  • Curate and preprocess retrospective breast cancer cases from multiple sources: EHR, radiology and pathology reports, as well as national registries.
  • Link EHR data with medical imaging (e.g., mammography, MRI), including AI-generated outputs when available.
  • Structure data for use in machine learning workflows, focusing on creating clean, well-documented datasets suitable for multi-agent AI development.
  • Assist in implementing and benchmarking early models for text-based prediction of clinical outcomes.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and researchers to ensure correct data interpretation and alignment with clinical workflows.
  • Document pipelines and processes to support reproducibility and future handover to PhD students.

Your profile

Qualifications

You should have:

  • A strong personal interest in developing AI for medical decision support including image analysis using state-of-the-art deep learning architectures and techniques.
  • Enrolled in Bachelor's or Master's degree program in computer science or related field, with an end date in July 2025 at the latest

It is a merit if you have:

  • Experience with developing tools for medical image analysis, especially radiological images.
  • Excellent communication skills in both writing and speaking in English.

We place great emphasis in personal qualities.
