The Thålin research group opens a position for a senior researcher with skills in organoid culturing.The Thålin group explores several aspects of mucosal immunity, particularly the role of secretory IgA in the respiratory mucosa. This includes a collaborative project aimed at understanding how different IgA glycoforms contribute to protection against respiratory infection. To closely replicate human airways, nasal and lung epithelial organoids derived from human adult stem cells will be cultured, and the group now opens a position for a for a highly creative and motivated senior researcher with skills in organoid culturing.

We are situated at Karolinska Institutet, the Department of Clinical Sciences, Danderyd Hospital (KIDS), which conducts extensive clinical research in several areas. The department is growing and consists of research nurses, biomedical analysts, senior researchers, post docs, and PhD students as well as administrative personnel.
Eligibility requirements
You will be a central part of the Thålin research team of academic scientists including two post-docs and four Ph.D. students. Your will lead the establishment and management of organoid research including culture passaging, expansion and maintenance as well as managing the biobank. You have extensive experience in organoid research, preferably respiratory and intestinal models, and you will have the responsibility for the accuracy, quality, and timeliness of organoid farming and phenotyping activities. In this position, you will work in close collaboration with the team members and adjust your work to the needs of the team. You will be expected to contribute to and support the ongoing research projects in the group and mentor and supervise lab members and PhD students. The position will require independent work and extensive collaboration with other research groups within KIDS and our collaborative network for further developing organoid models for advanced disease modelling.
To be eligible for employment as a Senior Research Specialist, in addition to holding a PhD, or having a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a Swedish doctoral degree, the applicant must have demonstrated good level of research expertise with significant scientific production. The applicant must also have demonstrated a good scientific independence to which their own contribution has been significant and a research plan of high quality with clear potential for the future.
