This position is a unique opportunity to carry out precision cancer medicine research in a translational setting, with the aim to assign and optimize targeted treatments for individual cancer patients. The disease focus for this position is in haematology with an initial focus on acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). The goal is to develop a systems biology framework to match targeted therapies and drug combinations using genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic profiling along with functional ex vivo drug testing. We work through team science in close collaboration with other research groups, different technology platforms at SciLifeLab, health care, industry as well as Nordic and international collaborators.
This position involves leading work with primary cell models of cancer and their application in drug testing and multi-omics profiling in bulk and with single cell resolution. It also includes development of these methods and their application to precision cancer medicine approaches in the clinical research setting. The candidate is expected to independently carry out project management tasks such as developing and innovating research ideas, grant writing, planning research projects and technologies and data management, monitoring milestones in a project, lead a research team, and interacting with researchers but also with clinical and pharma collaborators.
To be eligible for employment as a Senior Research Specialist, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the applicant must have demonstrated good level of research expertise with significant scientific production. The applicant must also have demonstrated a good scientific independence to which their own contribution has been significant and a research plan of high quality with clear potential for the future.

It is particularly meritorious that the applicant has shown long term expertise in experimental hematology, cancer biology, immune regulation, precision medicine and/or translational research. Expertise in high-throughput drug testing, single-cell sequencing, and multicolor flow cytometry is also highly valued.
It is meritorious that the applicant has shown to engage in teaching and course organization at basic, advanced and/or doctoral level.
