The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics conducts research in epidemiology and biostatistics across a broad range of areas within biomedical science. The department is among the largest of its type in Europe and has especially strong research profiles in psychiatric, cancer, reproductive, pediatric, pharmaco, genetic, and geriatric epidemiology, eating disorders, precision medicine, and biostatistics.

Part of the success of our department is due to our collaborative spirit where one factor is that researchers at the Department share and co-finance common resources (e.g., IT and an applied biostatistics group). The department is situated at campus Solna. Further information can be found at http://ki.se/en/meb

Duties
Applicants for the Postdoctoral position in molecular epidemiology and bioinformatics are expected to work with applied statistical analyses of cancer genomics data. Areas of work include development, implementation and evaluation of statistical models for patient stratification and subtyping based on NGS data from tumour material. The position would suit applicants who are interested in developing a career in the intersection of molecular epidemiology, statistics and bioinformatics. The successful applicant will join an interdisciplinary research team with strong collaboration with clinical departments and other national and international research groups.

Entry requirements
A person is eligible for a position as Postdoctoral Researcher if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc.

Applicant should have a PhD degree in a relevant field (e.g. genetics, bioinformatics or epidemiology). Postgraduate training in epidemiology and/or biostatistics is considered favourably. Previous experience from statistical and bioinformatic analyses of cancer genomics data in general, and particularly of RNAseq data, is considered favourably. Experience from multivariate prediction modelling in high-dimensional data is an advantage. An interdisciplinary background in relevant research areas is considered favourably. Prior experience from data analysis and scripting in e.g. R or Matlab is considered favourably. The applicant should be able to work as part of a team as well as independently and be able to organize and prioritise his/her own work with minimal supervision.
