Karolinska Institutet is one of the four founding universities for the Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab), which is today’s Sweden national infrastructure and research center in technology driven life science. At the Department of Oncology-Pathology basic, translational and clinical research and educational activities related to cancer is carried out. Approximately 300 people from over 40 nations are currently working at the department. About 30 research groups with various cancer research profiles are involved and we have around 110 PhD students. The Department of Oncology-Pathology is responsible for undergraduate courses in Pathology, Oncology and Forensic Medicine for medical students, as well as for Tumor biology courses for biomedicine students and Pathology courses for opticians.
The position will be placed in the group headed by Professor Janne Lehtiö at SciLifeLab. This is a translational group of scientists from various disciplines with a drive to develop new omics technologies to study the molecular profile of tumors and improve personalized cancer treatments. We offer a stimulating and diverse work environment in a team of very motivated co-workers with expertise in cutting-edge technology and translational science projects in the field of oncology.
The candidate will complement the current staff working in the Molecular Tumor Board Portal (MTBP), an academic clinical decision support system that interprets the molecular profiles of tumor cells and reports back the results to medical teams. The employment is a temporary position of 1 year.
