The Department of Biosciences and Nutrition performs research and education in several areas of
medical science including aging, Alzheimer, biomaterial, molecular endocrinology, cancer biology,
functional genomics, systems biology, epigenetics, structural biochemistry, bioorganic chemistry,
immunology, and nutrition. It offers an excellent international research and working environment,
including around 250 scientists, students, administrative and technical personnel. The Department
resides in Neo at Campus Flemingsberg, a biomedical research building, aimed at being a creative and open environment that enables meetings, synergies, and exploration of areas of mutual interest across disciplines.

Your mission

The position is placed in the laboratory of Marianne Farnebo which locates in Biomedicum at Karolinska Institutet. Farnebo laboratory studies the function of non-coding RNA and RNA-binding proteins in DNA repair, and how defects in these processes contribute to cancer.

The candidate will perform research focused on RNA biology and DNA repair employing human cell lines as model system. The candidate will help in ongoing research projects in collaboration with other members of Farnebo research team.

Terms of employment

This is a full-time, time-limited position of 6 months, with the possibility of short-term extension.  Start date as soon as possible, or as per agreement.

Your profile

  • Master of science is a requirement.
  • Applicants should have previous experience in various cell biology techniques, including cell culture, qPCR, western blot and confocal microscopy.
  • Practical knowledge on molecular methods to study the DNA damage response and toxicology research is a merit
  • Applicant should have a high personal drive, motivation and organization skills
  • Applicant should be efficient and able to work productively in a team
  • Applicant should be fluent in English

Emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
