The positions are available in the research group led by Senior Researcher Kristiina Tammimies at the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health. The Tammimies lab focuses on understanding genetic and biological factors associated with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) such as autism spectrum disorder, and how this information can be integrated to guide clinical work. The group performs high-resolution genetic analyses in different NDD cohorts and follows-up findings using bioinformatics approaches and cellular models. The research group is located in BioClinicum, the Karolinska University Hospital research building as part of the women/children/genetics research theme.
The research group is part of the Center of Neurodevelopmental Disorders at Karolinska Institutet KIND. KIND is a competence center for research, development, and education within the area of developmental psychopathology. The center is established in collaboration between Karolinska Institutet and Stockholm County Council aiming at generating high-impact basic research, improving clinical practice, and spreading new knowledge to stakeholders.
We are looking for two postdoctoral fellows to join our international team and be part of projects focusing on understanding genetic factors in neurodevelopmental disorders and their consequences using cellular models. A more detailed research plan will be developed together with the successful candidate/s based on earlier expertise and interest areas. The position start in fall 2021, full time, 2 years with with possibility for extension.
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
The candidate should have completed Ph.D studies within the field of Genetics, Molecular or Cell biology or related areas no more than three years ago. The candidate should have at least two published peer-reviewed articles or manuscripts available through preprint repositories. Having earlier experience in genetics and/or functional studies using cell or mice models is required. Earlier knowledge in neurodevelopmental disorders is beneficial. Skills in R and/Python are meriting. The applicant will be evaluated based on education and previous scientific experience as well as personal suitability.
