Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

In our research group, led by Professor Andreas Olsson, you will work together with an interdisciplinary research team aiming to understand the mechanisms of emotional learning and regulation in social situations. In particular, we study the learning and regulation of fear and other aversions and how these processes interact with social cognition and decision-making to produce behavior. We offer an engaging and international research environment where you will have the opportunity to contribute to high quality research at international top level. The group currently consists of 14 people. For more info about our research, and recent publications, please see our web-site.

Your mission

We now looking for a Research coordinator in social and affective cognitive neuroscience who will help us to understand the mechanisms of emotional learning and regulation in social situations. The successful candidate will be a part of a productive and dynamic research environment and work on projects investigating emotional learning and social cognition with a focus on fMRI. You will be involved in the design and implementation of experiments, as well as the analysis and dissemination of the results at conferences and in scientific journals. The position provides an excellent opportunity for transition to career independence, including faculty supervision and an individual development plan to support training goals. The successful candidate will also serve as a resource to more junior lab members by sharing their knowledge. You will have the opportunity to supervise and train students and research assistants.

Applicants should have a PhD in Neuroscience with a promising publication record, and expected to have at least eight years of experience working with brain imaging and psychophysiology in social and affective neuroscience topics, including a focus on individual differences in empathy and psychopathy. The candidate should have a strong quantitative background, and expertise in designing, implementing and analysing behavioural and brain imaging experiments, including both functional and structural MRI data, as well as heart-rate and skin conductance data.

We are particularly looking for someone with strong analysis and computational programming skills, including experience with R, MatlabSPM, AFNI and Freesurfer. Strengths in statistical knowledge including multilevel modelling, and experience in advanced aspects of neuroimaging data analysis are required. The ability to work well within a team and display high interpersonal skills, is also important, because a large part of the research will be carried out in cooperation with other lab members. Experience from at least one longer stay in a research group abroad is strongly advantageous. Excellent oral and written English language skills are required.
