Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

We are looking for a talented postdoctoral applicant interested in using animal models to uncover the molecular basis of disease, particularly focusing on immunity, cancer and metabolism (Paolino et al. Nature 2014, Suriben et al. Cell 2015, Paolino et al. J. Immunol 2011). Our research focuses, but not exclusively, on exploring novel physiological roles for ubiquitin-related genes.  We perform top quality biomedical research that goes from mouse genetics to therapy, and strives to have important implications for human health and disease treatment.

Your mission

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral candidate with strong competence in functional in vivo animal genetics and disease modeling as well as knowledge of experimental applications of molecular and cellular biology techniques. The applicant will apply state-of-the-art approaches to explore the function and mechanims of previously uncharacterized genes in cancer, metabolism and/or immunity. For these tasks, he/she will combine mouse genetics and in vivo disease models with a wide range of cell biological, molecular and immunological experimental methods, such as flow cytometry analysis, CRISPR/Cas9, shRNAs, microscopy, cloning, next generation sequencing and cell culture models including 3D organoids.

Your profile

The applicant is eligible to apply if he or she has obtained a PhD in Cancer Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related fields. Candidates are expected to have demonstrated experience working with disease mouse models and experimental application of molecular and cellular biology techniques with a deep knowledge in immunology, cancer and/or metabolic research. Knowledge of working with the ubiquitin system is not mandatory but will be consider an asset. The ideal candidate should be creative and goal-oriented, with a proven scientific track record, and thrive in an interdisciplinary and international environment.
The applicant is expected to work in a diligent way to take responsibility in generating properly controlled scientific data of high quality. The candidates should be able to work independently and taking a strong lead in managing the project. Good interpersonal and communication skills in English, spoken and written, are required. Personal suitability for the group will also be a strong selection criterion.

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
