Division of Molecular Toxicology

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is one of the leading causes of cancer-related death and the survival rate is very poor. There is thus an urgent unmet need for new therapeutic approaches. Nanomaterials offer several potential advantages in this regard as they could enable the formulation and delivery of drugs that are otherwise poorly water soluble and could facilitate drug delivery across the stromal barrier that is typically seen in PDAC. Our work is focused on the development and evaluation of nanomaterials for drug delivery in PDAC. Our laboratory also has a strong track record in nanotoxicology. The current project has received funding from the Swedish Cancer Foundation.

 Duties

The successful candidate will work at the Division of Molecular Toxicology at the Institute of Environmental Medicine, Karolinska Institutet, in an international environment. The post doc will focus on the characterization of novel nanocarriers for drug delivery in PDAC and, in collaboration with other laboratories, in relevant animal models.

Entry requirements

We are looking for highly motivated candidates with a PhD degree in cell- or molecular biology, immunology, tumor biology, or equivalent field. Experience with the following techniques is needed: cell culture work including tumor spheroids, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, and standard cell- and molecular biology techniques. Experience of techniques for the physicochemical characterization of nanomaterials, as well as prior experience of animal experiments is considered advantageous. Previous post doc experience and a strong publication record are preferred. Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as a collaborative mindset.

 Application process

The application must contain the following documents in English:

  1. Curriculum vitae, including date of PhD defense, previous academic position(s), current position, and a list of laboratory skills, as well as a description of other, relevant academic distinctions, and teaching experience (max. 5 pages).
  2. List of publications, including original articles, review articles, and book chapters (do not any send any reprints).
  3. Statement of current and future research interests (max. 1 page).
  4. At least two signed letters of recommendation from current or former supervisors (send scanned copies of letters).

The application is to be submitted through the Varbi recruitment system.
