Unit
The Center for Hematology and Regenerative medicine, HERM is a research unit within the Department of Medicine Huddinge with a focus on translational hematology. HERM is located in the NEO building and consists of a mix of clinical and preclinical research groups working on hematopoiesis, stem cells, stroma, various aspects of the immune system including immune deficiency disorders, and translational hematology based on biobanked clinical samples.

Research groups
The candidate will work in the research group of Associate Professor Johanna Ungerstedt, a translational hematology group working on two rare myeloid diseases, mastocytosis and chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (https://ki.se/en/medh/johanna-ungerstedt-group-epigenetics-in-myeloid-diseases).

We are looking for a motivated, well-organized co-worker to serve as lab manager in a multinational research group.

Responsibilities
The duties are multifaceted and entail organisational and administrative tasks, as well as laboratory work and work associated with taking peripheral blood samples of patients by venepuncture, and Biobanking of these, including maintaining the Biobank registry. The administrative part of the work involves daily support functions in the lab, administration associated with chemical and biological work, and introduction of new members in the group.  The laboratory work includes molecular biology work, flow cytometry and to some extent FACS sorting, histology and tissue culture. A major part of the laboratory work includes all steps of biobanking, from sampling blood of patients, to preparation of MNC for vital freezing or other handling of plasma and serum.

Qualifications and entry requirements
Applicants must have adequate university education, either a certified biomedical analyst or a bachelor or master’s degree in a relevant topic, e.g. biomedicine or cell biology.  We are looking for a person who is well-organized, likes to work in a dynamic environment with diverse tasks, and who likes to provide service. The applicant must have ample experience and a degree that includes training in venipuncture of patients. The applicant should have practical experience in standard molecular biology, cell biology and flow cytometry techniques, as well as experience from biobanking of clinical grade samples.

Good collaborate skills, independence, communication skills and computer skills (especially Excel and databases) are required. Knowledge of Karolinska Institutet's databases (ELN) is favorable. Good knowledge in written and spoken English and Swedish is required.
