Division
The Division of Physiological Chemistry I of the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics announces a position of LC-MS Lab Engineer.  The Division is led by prof. Roman Zubarev and includes his research group as well as two proteomics facilities, Proteomics Biomedicum managed by Dr. Akos Vegvari and Chemical Proteomics managed by Dr. Massimiliano Gaetani. All three units of the Division jointly use a large instrumental park, consisting mainly of liquid chromatography (LC) and mass spectrometry (MS) equipment connected online (LC-MS). Currently, there are six Orbitrap LC-MS systems in use, with a seventh one being already purchased. The LC-MS instrumentation is employed in state of the art proteome analysis and novel method development.  There are also stand-alone UPLC and electrophoresis systems for off-line peptide fractionation and other lab equipment.

Duties
The main duty is to constantly maintain, including cleaning, calibration and trouble-shooting, as well as software updating, the above equipment in the lab. In the remaining time, it will be possible to participate in LC-MS analyses and method development. The work proceeds in strong interaction with the core facility staff and management, as well as with the research personnel and leadership of the Division.

Entry requirements
The ideal candidate has a service-oriented personality and an extensive background in vacuum technology, LC and MS equipment, electronics and computers. Even though special training by the equipment manufacturers will be provided, prior experience of working with similar equipment will be strongly appreciated. Good inter-personal skills and the ability to effectively work in an international research environment are required. The working language in the lab is English.

The position is available immediately and includes a six-month trial period. A successful candidate will then receive a two-year position, after which a permanent contract can be offered.
