Karolinska Institutet, Deparartment of NVS, Division of Clinical geriatrics

The Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society (NVS) conducts world leading research in aging, dementia, epidemiology and care sciences. This research extends from basic molecular and cell levels to clinical research and societal studies. NVS educates almost a third of KI students at basic and advanced levels. The Department has approximately 540 employees and a revenue 2023 of 530 million SEK. It comprises seven divisions, located at Campus Flemingsberg and Campus Solna.

Division
The Division of Clinical Geriatric conducts research focusing on cognitive impairment, dementia, and other aging related disorders, and education, among other medical graduates. The research is multi-faceted and is in close collaboration with leading institutions and clinics worldwide. The research is clinically oriented with an emphasis on diagnosis, prevention and treatment. Some focus areas include lifestyle factors, prevention and treatment studies, imaging methods, and registry studies. The division is now posting a one year position with possible extention.

Research group
The Translational Molecular Imaging Lab of professor Agneta Nordberg has a strong translational approach on in vivo molecular and in vitro brain imaging technique with aim is to characterize the complex pathophysiological features of neurodegenerative diseases, with a strong focus on Alzheimer disease but also other neurodegenerative proteinopathies. Our aims  are to develop new early diagnostic markers and new drug targets for early intervention in disease process of neurodegenerative disorders. The lab is located in the Neo building at KI Campus Flemingsberg close to the Karolinska University Hospital, Theme Aging, the Aging Brain.

The applicant is expected to take an active role in applying advanced imaging methods for processing and evaluating imaging data. There are also possibilities to initiate individual research projects, based on the person´s interests. The environment provides excellent post-doctoral training in an international working environment, national and international collaborations, and possibilities to publish in high impact journals.

Entry requirements
We seek for a person with experience in the field of brain neuroimaging. The candidate should be able to conduct advanced image data processing/analysis (Freesurfer, SPM and FSL) and have statistical knowledge.
