Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

In the Brodin lab, the team performs state-of-the-art immunomonitoring analyses. The lab receives samples, mostly from blood, and prepares these using a unique liquid handling robotic platform, stain cells with antibodies and acquire data by high-dimensional spectral cytometry, single-cell mRNA-sequencing, and plasma protein analyses.

The lab is looking to hire a Postdoctoral Researcher in Systems Immunology. Experience with multimodal single-cell analysis such as single-cell mRNA + TCR sequencing is highly beneficial. Experience with integrative analyses of plasma protein, single-cell mRNA and protein (cytometry) data and clinical metadata is a strong bonus.

Your mission

The Petter Brodin research group develops and applies experimental and computational research methods for systems-level analyses of human immune systems. The aim of the team is to understand human immune system variation in health and disease and the development of immune systems early in life. The group is half experimental and half computational and belongs to the unit of clinical pediatrics, which is a broad, multi-disciplinary unit at the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health, KI.

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

The successful candidate should have extensive experience particularly with single-cell multiomics and applications to human immunology. The project will deal with industry partners and collaborative projects so experience in working with clinical trials data is a bonus. The successful candidate must thrive in interdisciplinary environments and should be dedicated to performing the tasks assigned in the lab meticulously and with great care. The candidate must be comfortable working both independently and in collaboration with the lab heads and other members of the team (when necessary) and contribute to the team’s concerted efforts. The candidate must have good communication skills in both English and Swedish as the team is multicultural and interdisciplinary.

Duties

The responsibilities of this candidate in the lab will mainly involve:

  • Single-cell multiomics analysis
  • Staining and acquisition of samples by flow cytometry and analysis of T cells by combined mRNA+TCR-sequencing.
  • Understanding of immunomodulatory drug development and design
  • Integrative analyses of clinical trials data involving plasma proteins, single cell data and clinical data.

The postdoc will be an integral member of the Brodin research lab and will participate in many different ongoing research projects and will be able to learn many cutting edge technologies used in the facility and the research group.

A selection will be made among qualified applicants based on the following criteria:

  1. Documented doctoral degree within a subject of relevance to the postdoctoral project.
  2. Documented experience in some of the aforementioned requirements.
  3. Documented expertise in sample handling, blood cell preparation, culturing and spectral cytometry.
  4. Prior experience and knowledge in biology and experience in immunology.
  5. Expressed interest in the job described above.
