Do you want to contribute to improving human health?

The Fan lab is located at the department of Medicine Huddinge in the south campus of Karolinska Institutet. The department has researchers of both clinical and basic background and is equipped with state-of-the-art core facilities. The Fan lab is mainly interested in investigating epigenetic mechanisms in metabolic disorders.

Your mission

We are mainly interested in genomic regulatory regions particularly enhancers. The project aims to understand how enhancer activities are defined by the interplay between transcription factors /
coregulators and chromatins using cell, animal and bioinformatics tools.

The postdoctoral researcher will combine analysis in public human and animal cistrome, transcriptome and epigenome datasets with molecular biology and next generation sequencing techniques in cell animal and human samples, to investigate how epigenetic mechanisms are involved in development of metabolic disorders.

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to investigate the functional epigenetic mechanisms in obesity and T2D. To be eligible for this position, you need to have strong bioinformatic skills. Previous research experience of epidemiology in metabolic disorders (such as T2D, CVD, etc) and expertise in statistics are required. We also expect the candidate to have experience working with obesity and T2D animal models.
