Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Division of Infectious Diseases performs research and education in close collaboration with the Karolinska University Hospital. The research teams address a wide range of infectious diseases using clinical, epidemiological, and experimental approaches.

The Färnert research group focuses on clinical and immunological aspects of parasitic and other infections. The group is currently pursuing a study to develop automated algorithms to improve the detection of helminth infections in individuals diagnosed with eosinophilia and is therefore seeking a research assistant who will focus on the development of such algorithms using clinical indicators extracted from the journal records.

Your mission

The research assistant will focus on data cleaning, data management and data analysis of a research dataset. The applicant will perform statistical analyses to explore the associations between helminth infections with socio-demographic and clinical parameters. The applicant will also perform manual annotation of journal records to evaluate clinical parameters. As part of the project the applicant will develop several algorithms that predict helminth infections.

Your profile

The applicant should have an MSc degree in epidemiology, as well as knowledge and hands-on experience in the epidemiology of helminth infections and managing and analysing big datasets with statistical software (i.e., STATA or R). A medical degree and previous work with helminth infection epidemiology is an advantage.

The group is seeking a highly motivated research assistant. The candidate is expected to be well organized and able to work independently. The project is pursued in an interdisciplinary environment and good collaborative skills are necessary. Fluency in English is mandatory.
