We have an open programming position for 6 months part-time (50%) in the Team of Cancer Genetics led by Emma Tham, part of the Clinical Genetics research group at the Department of Molecular Medicine, KI located in Bioclinicum and in collaboration with Clinical Genomics, SciLifeLab, both at the Karolinska University Hospital site in Solna.
We are looking for a motivated person with a strong background in programming and mathematics, with an interest to work in bioinformatics. The work will be focused on analyses of copy number alterations generated from massive parallel sequencing data with the aim to improve diagnostics and increase our understanding of disease development and drug resistance. Work tasks will involve evaluation and development of bioinformatic tools as well as packaging and deployment of software in a diagnostic setting.
Long experience in various forms of programming including Python and GO; as well as knowledge of machine learning methods, algorithm design, and GPU accelerated computation. Previous work in UNIX environments is required. You should demonstrate a strong analytic ability and be skillful at organizing your work in terms of planning as well as documenting and reporting your findings. You need to be fluent in English and Swedish. A successful candidate must have proven and documented experience of working in Git
