Are you curious and passionate about science and want to work in the exciting field of 3D Genome Biology?

A postdoc position in 3D Chromatin Biology is immediately available in the Bienko-Crosetto Lab (https://bienkocrosettolabs.org/) at Karolinska Institute in Stockholm.

As biology-driven postdoc, you will engage in projects that seek to understand how chromatin is spatially organized in the nucleus of mammalian cells, how dynamic is this organization during the cell division cycle and cell differentiation, and how genomic structural variants associated with various diseases exert their pathogenic effects by disrupting the 3D chromatin architecture.

You will be part of a dynamic and international research environment (https://www.scilifelab.se/) where you will have the opportunity to network with scientists from very diverse fields and backgrounds, fostering your creativity and shaping your project in non-conventional ways.

Your mission

You will leverage on the GPSeq method (Nat Biotechnol 2020) that we recently developed in our lab as well as on our vast expertise in both sequencing (CUTseq, Nat Comm 2019; BLISS, Nat Prot 2020 and Nat Comm 2017; BLESS, Nat Meth 2013) and microscopy methods (iFISH, Nat Comm 2019; FuseFISH, Cell Rep 2014; HD-FISH, Nat Meth 2013) to chart the higher-order organization of chromatin in different human cell types, in both healthy and diseased states.

In parallel, you will deploy state-of-the-art genome editing techniques to perturb the 3D chromatin structure and combine a variety of mapping techniques (GPSeq, Hi-C, ATAC-seq, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq) to read out the structural and functional consequences of defined perturbations of the higher-order chromatin architecture.

You will combine cutting-edge molecular biology, next-generation sequencing and high-resolution microscopy techniques, while working in synergy with experts in computational methods and modeling approaches.

Our ultimate mission is to understand how the complex higher-order structure of chromatin in mammalian cells is established during the cell cycle, how it is dynamically reshaped during cell differentiation, and how it is rewired during carcinogenesis.

Your profile

Are you a curious and problem-solving-oriented individual? Are you passionate about DNA biology? Are you driven by fundamental, yet unanswered big biological questions?

You don’t need to know how to code or analyze complex datasets, but you will work in synergy with computational biologists and bioinformaticians to make sense of the complex data that you will be generating.

If you have previously worked in the field of 3D genome organization, that’s great! However, we also welcome applications from people from different fields, who have a solid expertise in molecular biology techniques and next-generation sequencing technologies.

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
