The Lung Research Laboratory at the Department of Medicine Solna has a broad focus in research areas of respiratory and inflammatory diseases. Our mission is to improve diagnostics, treatment, and quality of life for patients with sarcoidosis. The purpose of this research project is to conduct various high-throughput omics studies combined with state-of-the-art analytical methods and bioinformatics in various population cohorts in the sarcoidosis MESARGEN consortium https://mesargen.wordpress.com/. The task is to identify clinical biomarkers and elucidate molecular mechanisms underlying sarcoidosis pathobiology.

Your mission

Your mission will be to perform experimental work on human biological specimens with the use of cell and molecular biology techniques for high-throughput genomic, transcriptomic, epigenomic studies. Your tasks include DNA and RNA extraction and sample preparation; DNA methylation; chromatin immunoprecipitation and Assay for Transposase-Accessible Chromatin combined with next-generation sequencing (ChIP-seq and ATAC-seq); PCR, RT-PCR and Western blotting as well as immunostainings, and immunohistochemistry.

Flow cytometry for determination cytokines and inflammatory markers as well as cell sorting experience is an advantage.

The research engineer is also responsible for proper reception, processing, efficient tracking, storage, logistics, handling, and documentation of samples for projects managed in our group, as well as responsible for maintaining the related laboratory areas, their tidiness, and functionality in compliance with laboratory safety and quality system requirements.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office, e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs, is required. You need to be able to handle purchases, plan the orders and be in contact with collaborators to fully support your own experimental work.

Your profile

You are MS. or PhD in Biological sciences, Biomedicine or Molecular biology and have experience of laboratory work. The group is small and the position is limited to 24 months, and therefore you need to have an experience of the techniques mentioned above to be able to work independently in the lab. Previous experience working with human samples, biobanking, immunology, and genomic studies, is an advantage for this position. Excellent ability to speak and write in English is a prerequisite.

The position is located within the Department of Medicine, Solna. The department consists of twelve divisions and each division consists of several research groups.
