The “Cancer Therapy” group at the Karolinska Institutet – SciLifeLab, led by Prof. Oscar Fernandez-Capetillo has one postdoc vacancy. Our research focuses on phenotypic screenings aiming to find genes or chemicals that can be of help in fighting against age-related diseases currently lacking a cure. Our research group is an international team surrounded by strong national facilities and actively collaborates with other competitive national and international research groups.

Our group is integrated in the "Genome Biology" Division at Karolinska Institutet, together with other competitive groups that work in areas such as DNA repair, epigenetics, advanced imaging or genomics (https://ki.se/en/mbb/research-division-of-genome-biology). Our own groups´ aim is to capitalize on our expertise in High-Content Imaging to conduct genetic and chemical screens that can help us discover new strategies to combat human disease. At SciLifeLab, our team is surrounded by other world leaders in various biomedical research areas, and has access to national facilities for proteomics, microscopy and next generation sequencing.
We are currently looking for a postdoctoral scientist to join our team with a Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or other relevant fields. We are looking for a highly motivated scientist that is enthused about our scientific approach, and that has the capacity to independently develop a scientific research project with the proper guidance. In addition, it is expected that the candidate will help in the training of students. Other valuable skills such as writing or presenting capacities or social skills will also be appreciated. There will be opportunities to gain teaching experience.
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
Bases of assessment
Scientific merit is the essential basis of our assessment. All applications will be internally reviewed, and the assessment done according to the applicant’s competence (publications, experience, distinctions, and other relevant research merits). The applicant must have a strong background in cancer and cell biology. Experience in high-throughput imaging and screenings is a request. Selected applicants will be interviewed at a second stage before making the final decision.
