The Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society (NVS) conducts world leading research in aging, dementia, epidemiology and care sciences.

Division

The division of the Aging Research Center (ARC) within NVS is a multidisciplinary academic environment, representing psychology, sociology, and various branches of medicine (e.g., neurology, epidemiology, psychiatry, geriatrics). Major research foci in the psychology section at ARC concern (a) sources of individual differences in cognitive functioning among older adults; (b) the neural underpinnings of age-related differences in cognition, as assessed using structural and functional MRI; (c) PET research on the role of dopamine functions in cognitive aging; and (d) intervention research examining cognitive and brain plasticity in old age. A full time position as Senior Researcher in the psychology section is available at ARC, starting in June 2020.

Your mission

A major task for incumbent will be to contribute to the ongoing research activities at ARC, conceptually as well as methodologically. In addition, there are possibilities to initiate individual research projects, based on the incumbent´s interests.

Your profile

A person is eligible to be appointed Senior Researcher if he or she has been awarded a Degree of Doctor or has achieved the corresponding scientific competence, as well as documented research after publicly defending his or her doctoral thesis corresponding to qualification as Assistant professor. A strong track record in terms of publications and grants is required. In particular, we are looking for a person with extensive publications in aging, brain imaging, and cognition, with good ability to coordinate and direct research projects. Documented experience in both structural and functional imaging as well in individual differences (e.g., genetic factors, lifestyle factors) in brain and cognition is desirable. Publications in high-level international journals as well as international collaboration is meritorious. A solid background in MRI and PET research with a cognitive orientation weighs heavy in the recruitment process. Experience in planning, conducting, and publishing longitudinal aging research is also meritorious.
