The Department of Biosciences and Nutrition performs research and education in several areas of medical science including bioorganic chemistry, molecular endocrinology, cancer biology, functional genomics, systems biology, epigenetics, structural biochemistry, cellular virology, and nutrition. It offers an excellent international research and working environment, including around 300 scientists, students, administrative and technical personnel. The Department resides in the new biomedical research building Neo, aimed at being a creative and open environment that enables meetings, synergies, and exploration of areas of mutual interest across disciplines.

Division
Associate professor Marie Löf, is the leader of the IMPACT (Innovative use of Mobile Phones to promote physical ACTivity and nutrition across the lifespan) research group at Karolinska Institutet. The group has ten years of experience in developing mobile phone based (mHealth) interventions focusing on promoting optimal nutrition and physical activity, with special emphasis on pregnant women and young children. For example, the studies include technology development for dietary and physical activity assessment using mobile phones as well as mHealth solutions to promote healthier diet and physical activity and obesity prevention in children and adults.

Duties
This researcher will be primarily be responsible for administering and actively participating in the tasks of Karolinska Institute in the H2020 EU projects BigO (https://bigoprogram.eu/) and iPrognosis (http://www.i-prognosis.eu/), focusing on the two main tasks of the research group in these settings. Specifically, the researcher will be leading the efforts of: i) behavioral Big Data collection from school and obese patient children populations in Sweden and elsewhere and ii) the behavioural modeling of early Parkinson Disease diagnostic real-life behaviours in older adults, with focus on the quantification of meal-related eating behaviours. The researcher will also be responsible for the ethical management of the above tasks, while will contribute in the technological evaluation of the technologies in use and the data validations of the outcome datasets.

The employment is timelimited for one year.

Qualifications
For this position, a multidisciplinary health/technological profile is required. The successful candidate should have documented – supported by appropriate documentation and publications – experience in the domains of: i) health-related behavioural analysis, preferably in dietary/eating behaviour, in children and older adult populations, ii) technological know-how, documented through technological peer-reviewed publications. Additionally, the candidate should have documented management experience in collaborative EU projects. Experience in attracting international research funding will also be appreciated. Finally, candidate should have strong verbal and written communication skills. Fluent knowledge of English, writing and speaking is required, as well as previous work with development and evaluation of mHealth studies. Previous experience with PhD supervision in relevant fields is a merit.

Entry requirements
A person is eligible to be appointed Senior Researcher if he or she has been awarded a Degree of Doctor or has achieved the corresponding scientific competence, as well as documented research after publicly defending his or her doctoral thesis corresponding to qualification as Assistant professor.
