Division
The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics (MBB) conducts research in basic science, particularly focusing on discovering the mechanisms that cause diseases. The candidate will be part of the division of Vascular Biology.

Research group and project
A postdoctoral position is available in the lab of Professor Ulf Eriksson at Karolinska Institutet, one of the world’s leading biomedical research institutes. Our interest in the lab is focused on understanding the role of the vasculature in health and disease.

Area of responsibilities
The holder of the position is expected to work with research focused on the physiological and pathophysiological functions of VEGF-B, PDGF-C and PDGF-D with regard to its effect on metabolic disorders. This work will involve own experimental work and animal experiments as well as assistance to other postdoctoral fellows and senior researchers. It is expected that the holder of the position will publish research results in top quality scientific journals.

Qualifications
To qualify the applicant must hold specific responsibilities and requirements:

  • The applicant should possesses a doctor’s degree in medical science.
  • To qualify as a postdoctoral fellow, a person must fulfill the specific competence requirements for the position.
  • Applicants should be highly motivated and good team players.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English is required.
  • Excellent IT skills

 In connection with the appointment of postdoctoral fellow we will accord special weight to academic skills. The applicant should have experience of working with transgenic animal models, including mouse Cre-reporter strains, ROSA26-reporter animal models and different fluorescent reporter genes. Importantly, the applicant should have a specific experience in working with single cell analysis, including FACS sorting, experimental set ups and protocols for bulk- and single RNA-seq and as well as computational analysis of RNA-seq data.

Furthermore the applicant should be experienced in general animal work, including post-mortem tissue collection and processing, expression analysis, histochemical analysis and microscopic techniques.

Emphasis will be put on social competence, interpersonal skills and initiative personality.
