The Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society (NVS) conducts world leading research in aging, dementia, epidemiology and care sciences. This research extends from basic molecular and cell levels to clinical research and societal studies. NVS educates almost a third of KI students at basic and advanced levels. The Department has approximately 540 employees and a revenue 2023 of 530 million SEK. It comprises seven divisions, located at Campus Flemingsberg and Campus Solna.

Aging Research Center (ARC), a division within NVS, is located at KI Campus Solna, Stockholm. It is a multidisciplinary academic environment, representing medicine (e.g., neurology, epidemiology, psychiatry, geriatrics), psychology (e.g., cognition, structural, functional, and molecular brain imaging), and social gerontology (e.g., sociology, public health, social epidemiology, social work). The center has around 70 employees, it has a strong focus on research with unique research resources, such as large-scale longitudinal studies and nationwide registries.

Division
The Aging Research Center is a multidisciplinary academic environment, representing psychology, sociology, and various branches of medicine (e.g., neurology, epidemiology, and psychiatry). In the psychology sector of the center, we chart the brain correlates of cognitive aging and seek to understand how genetic factors and experience shape development of brain and cognition in adulthood and older age. We approach these research questions with small-scale experimental neuroimaging studies, larger-scale intervention (e.g., training) studies, and large-scale population-based longitudinal studies. Typical methods include psychometric measurements, experimental methods from cognitive psychology, functional and structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and positron emission tomography (PET).

Duties
A 2-year postdoc position is available in the research group on behavioral and brain plasticity led by Professor Martin Lövdén. The postdoc is expected to take a leading role in analyzing and reporting behavioral and MRI (structural and functional) data already collected in several projects investigating (1) effects of cognitive and physical training on cognitive performance and the brain and (2) braincorrelates of fluid intelligence. Developing own research questions within this context is encouraged.

Entry requirements
A person is eligible for a position as postdoctoral research fellow if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc.
We are searching for an outstanding early career researcher with an interest in cognitive neuroscience, specifically plasticity and intelligence. The applicant must have a doctoral degree. A background in cognitive neuroscience is a strong merit. Documented experience with functional and structural neuroimaging methods is fundamental, with skills in analyzing structural and functional MRI being most relevant. An early track record of international publications is meritorious, and especially high regarded if they report analyses of MRI data. Advanced statistical and programming skills will also be valued. The candidate must be thorough, efficient, a proficient communicator in English, and enjoy working in an international and dynamic team.
