Department of Biosciences and Nutrition, Treuter (ETR)

The Department of Biosciences and Nutrition performs research and education in several areas of medical science including bioorganic chemistry, molecular endocrinology, cancer biology, functional genomics, systems biology, epigenetics, structural biochemistry, cellular virology, and nutrition. It offers an excellent international research and working environment, including around 300 scientists, students, administrative and technical personnel. The Department resides in the new biomedical research building Neo, aimed at being a creative and open environment that enables meetings, synergies, and exploration of areas of mutual interest across disciplines.

Workgroup and duties
The position will be placed in the Eckardt Treuter laboratory which conducts pre-clinical research at the crossroads between epigenomics, metabolism, inflammation and disease. http://cimed.ki.se/research/senior-researchers/eckardt-treuter/

Duties will involve experimental research activities that aim to fully characterize the role of inflammatory enhancers in macrophages. The research assistant will additionally contribute to other project within the group and within collaborations.

Specific duties will include:

  • Handling and manipulation of mouse and human macrophages.
  • Generation and analysis of ChIP/RNA-sequencing data.
  • Application of CRISPR/Cas-9 gene editing in macrophages.
  • Preparation of manuscript drafts and grant applications.
  • Organization of laboratory routines.

Entry requirements
Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as molecular medicine, molecular biology or biochemistry. Prior experience in state-of-the-art epigenomics techniques, macrophage biology and manipulation is an advantage. Fluency in English is required. We are looking for an excellent team player with interpersonal skills, organized, efficient, and flexible in dealing with unpredictability and changes. Emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

The position is for 9 months.
