The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics conducts research in epidemiology and biostatistics across a broad range of areas within biomedical science. The department is among the largest of its type in Europe and has especially strong research profiles in psychiatric, cancer, reproductive, pediatric, pharmaco, genetic, and geriatric epidemiology, eating disorders, precision medicine, and biostatistics.
Part of the success of our department is due to our collaborative spirit where one factor is that researchers at the Department share and co-finance common resources (e.g., IT and an applied biostatistics group). The department is situated at campus Solna. Further information can be found at http://ki.se/en/meb
Duties/description of position
We are recruiting a post doc in epidemiology or biostatistics, who has a genuine interest for – and preferably experience from – working with large-scale epidemiologic data analysis. The applicant will work in a research group that primarily conducts research on short- and long-term complications of blood transfusions, as well as on possible health effects of repeated blood donation. Ongoing studies include, but are not limited to, transfusion related acute lung injury (TRALI) and disease transmission from blood donors to transfused patients. Most projects are based on the Scandinavian donations and transfusions (SCANDAT) database, a comprehensive database on blood donations and transfusions with health outcomes of both donors and transfused patients, from Sweden and Denmark since the 1960’s.
We offer a strong research environment with access to unique data resources and long experience of successful register based epidemiologic research.
Qualifications
Applications are invited from motivated and enthusiastic researchers with a fresh PhD degree in epidemiology or biostatistics. The ideal candidate will have proven experience of epidemiological research, preferably with analyses of large-scale databases as well as epidemiologic methods and or statistics.
