At the Department of Oncology-Pathology basic, translational and clinical research and educational activities related to cancer is carried out. Approximately 300 people from over 40 nations are currently working at the department. About 30 research groups with various cancer research profiles are involved and we have around 110 PhD students. The Department of Oncology-Pathology is responsible for undergraduate courses in Pathology, Oncology and Forensic Medicine for medical students, as well as for Tumor biology courses for biomedicine students and Pathology courses for opticians.
We are seeking one outstanding candidate for a post-doctoral fellowship dedicated to explore and interpret data obtained from clinical trials and data registries to identify the relations between cancer treatment and toxicity. The fellowship period is for one year, with good possibilities of prolongation.
Division and duties
The selected applicant is expected to drive a postdoctoral project by supervision of Elham Hedayati and Per Rydberg, in Jonas Bergh’s group. The selected postdoc will use state-of-the-art epidemiological and statistical methods to analyse the objectives in a few trials, both clinical trials and registry based studies. Aiming to obtain increased knowledge regarding key factors that correlates to various cancer treatment related toxicities.

Entry requirements
A person is eligible for a tax-free postdoctoral fellowship if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than two years before the last date of employment as a postdoc. A prolongation beyond this two-year limit is possible.
Scholarships for postdoctoral qualification can be established for foreign researchers who place their qualifications in Sweden. The purpose of scholarships for postdoctoral qualification is to promote internationalization and contribute to research qualification after a doctorate or equivalent.
A PhD in relevant research areas (epidemiology, clinical oncology and toxicities related to cancer treatment) is mandatory — a strong scientific track record, supported by published papers particularly on the subject of toxicities related to cancer treatment in well-recognised peer-reviewed journals. A high level of organisational and communicative skills, as well as an ability to independently perform experiments and implement interpretation of data, is mandatory.
The head of the department determines whether their previous training and scholarly qualifications correspond to a Swedish doctorate or higher.
Type of scholarship
A scholarship for carrying out postdoctoral research can be granted for a maximum of two years within a four year period following the receipt of a doctoral degree or equivalent.
The amount is tax free and it is set for twelve months at a time, paid out on a six months basis. In exceptional cases, shorter periods may be acceptable.
