Department of Medicine, Solna, Infectious Diseases division

The Department of Medicine, Solna, is one of the largest departments at Karolinska Institutet. The department consists of several divisions that are separated into different research groups. The core activities of the department are research, doctoral education and undergraduate education for medical and biomedical students. The research has three main profiles: allergy, cardiovascular medicine and inflammatory diseases.

Division of infectious Diseases


Duties
The candidate is expected to perform leading, independent, research in Pediatric Infectious Diseases with emphasis on infections and related complications in children suffering from malignancies. Teaching will be required at the undergraduate level (T8 – supervision and coordination of medical student’s individual projects).

Entry requirements
To qualify, the applicant must hold a doctor’s degree or a foreign qualification deemed equivalent to a doctorate as well as being a specialist doctor in Pediatrics. This includes being eligible to act as a physician in Sweden (Swedish language skills according to official regulations). Applicants are expected to have experience from at least one postdoctoral period at a foreign university as well as teaching experience relevant to this position.
A person is eligible to be appointed Senior Researcher if he or she has been awarded a Degree of Doctor or has achieved the corresponding scientific competence, as well as documented research after publicly defending his or her doctoral thesis corresponding to qualification as Assistant professor.

Bases of assessment
In connection with the appointment of Senior Researcher, we will accord special weight to academic skills, particularly demonstrated excellence in research and clinical work. Selection criteria include scientific excellence, originality, ability to collaborate, teaching experiences at the under- and postgraduate level as well as experience of supervising and finance his/her own projects and doctoral students.
We stress research expertise when assessing applicants.
