The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology at Karolinska Institutet (KI) announces an opportunity to join the research group of Assistant Professor Georgios A. Sotiriou as a research assistent in bionanomaterials. The lab has extensive experience in the flame synthesis of nanoparticles and assembly of devices with focus on superior performance. The lab’s mission is to develop nanobiomaterials, tools and methods for medicine using engineering sciences. The research in this lab is highly multidisciplinary combining expertise from material engineering, bioengineering and health sciences. This allows for the design of bionanomaterials that exhibit the desired functionality in applications ranging from diagnostics (biosensors) to therapeutic interventions.

Duties
The research assistant is expected to work on flame nanoparticle synthesis and participate in the lab research environment. This includes lab work, report writing and presentation of results at lab meetings. Other responsibilities include development of methodology and work routines, literature review, statistical analysis, adhering to the lab manual policies.

Qualifications
The candidate should have ongoing studies (diploma and/or MSc) in Chemical Engineering and/or Material Science and Technology.
