Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research and teaching in immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer. MTC has about 430 active employees, including 100 PhD students, 50 postdoctoral researchers and 26 professors. Research group
The research group is led by Dr Lisa Westerberg. Ongoing research is focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms in development of immunodeficiency diseases with high incidence of autoimmunity and cancer.

Duties
The main focus for the candidate is to investigate B cell responses in immunodeficiency patients and related animal models to identify disease mechanisms.

Entry requirements
We are seeking a highly motivated and independent postdoctoral researcher with a solid background in B cell immunology, cell biology and molecular biology. The candidate should be well familiar with standard techniques such as molecular biology tools (molecular cloning, real time qPCR), cell culture (retro/lentivirus work), B cell phenotyping and functional assays (e.g multicolor flow cytometry), tissue analysis (histology and confocal microscopy), as well as studies of the immune response in animals. Previous experience of work with both human and mouse B cells is a requirement.

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Fluency in written and spoken English is a requirement. Social skills and an ability to cooperate are also important qualifications. The work will be mostly conducted at the Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology of the Karolinska Institutet.

This is a temporary position for 12 months with a possibility of prolongation.
