The Department is organized in 10 divisions: Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Pediatric Endocrinology, Pediatric Surgery, Neuropediatrics, Pediatric Oncology, Neonatology, Reproductive Endocrinology, Neuropsychiatry (KIND), Reproductive and Perinatal Health. The divisions have separate scientific profiles and vary in size and have several research groups, dealing with both basic and clinical science.

Division
The position is hosted at the translational experimental research laboratory of the division of Pediatric Endocrinology. Its research is based on clinical problems derived from the pediatric endocrinology section of Astrid Lindgren Children's Hospital at “Nya Karolinska” (NKS). The work place location is the new research building BioClinicum (U2) at NKS. Several research groups are active in the laboratory and cover different areas: reproductive biology, growth physiology and genetics, diabetes mellitus, inborn errors of metabolism, and development of hormonal pharmaceuticals for pediatric use. The general aim of the research is to help children with endocrine and metabolic disorders to achieve better quality of life by improving their growth, development and metabolism.

Duties
The main task of the holder of the announced position is to pursue research and research supervision in the field of male reproductive physiology and pathophysiology. Teaching related to reproductive physiology and gonadal development, including embryology and toxicology, are important additional duties. The applicant is expected to conduct supervision of PhD, postdoc, master and other students, and contribute to the management and administrative work within the Department.

Entry requirements
We are seeking a person with merits corresponding to Associate Professor (Docent) level at KI. The applicant should be an internationally established scholar in the subject area with a focus on reproductive physiology. Qualified for the post is a person who has demonstrated expertise in research and pedagogics. The applicant must show records of successful academic leadership and collaborative skills at the national and international levels. He or she should document commitment and interest to develop new in vitro based strategies related to gonadal development and testicular physiology in humans. Experience of translational approaches with pluripotent stem cells is of merit. In addition, the successful candidate must have documented experience of supervising PhD students and postdocs. Formal leadership training is qualifying, as well as well documented ability to attract external research funding as principal investigator.
