Research group

Our research group, titled Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery, includes senior researchers, postdoctoral researchers, biostatisticians, administrator, PhD candidates, and students. We conduct clinical research examining diseases and surgery of the upper gastrointestinal tract, i.e., the oesophagus and stomach. We are involved in several international collaborations and networks. We have a structured approach to developing new studies, and run research seminar series, journal clubs, methods clubs and PhD courses. In the last external assessment of all research constellations at KI, our group was rated ‘Outstanding’ in cancer research, i.e. the highest score possible. The group leader is Jesper Lagergren, professor and consultant of surgery and member of the Nobel Assembly at KI, and professor and consultant surgeon at King’s College London.
