We offer a position to work on the discovery and development of new treatments for cancer. This work has led us to focus on agents that modulate nucleotide metabolism. Such agents include small molecules as well as biologicals.

Your mission

To perform cell culture and preclinical studies on the response of cancers to a variety of agents that alter nucleotide metabolism.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for employment as a Research Specialist, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the applicant must have demonstrated research expertise as well as have documented research experience after defending their doctoral dissertation.

Assessment criteria

It is particularly meritorious that the applicant has shown

From a technical perspective, the candidate must have:

  1. Expertise in cancer cell biology (e.g. cell culture, flow cytometry, western blotting, immunofluorescence microscopy)
  2. Expertise in molecular biology (PCR, cloning, basics on protein purification)
  3. Expertise in biochemistry (enzymatic assays, ELISA, immunoprecipitation)
  4. Expertise in murine models for cancer

From a literature perspective the candidate should have a deep understanding of:

  1. Cancer biology (tumor suppressors, oncogenes)
  2. Discovery of anticancer agents (small molecules and/or biologicals)

It is meritorious that the applicant has shown

  1. A proven publication track record with main author papers after his/her PhD dissertation.

After an overall assessment of the expertise and merits of the applicants in relation to the subject area, Karolinska Institutet will determine which of them has the best potential to contribute to a positive development of the activities at KI.
