We have an open position in the Clinical Genetics research group led by Richard Rosenquist Brandell. In our group we use translational approaches to study hematological malignancies, in order to understand disease mechanisms and apply new knowledge to genetic diagnostics/prognostics. The laboratory is situated in the modern research building BioClinicum located at the Karolinska University Hospital site in Solna.
We have a broad network of national and international collaborators and a close collaboration with the Science for Life Laboratory in Solna and Uppsala, which collectively entails access to both clinical material and state-of-the-art next generation sequencing technologies.

Area of responsibilities/description of the work

We are looking for a motivated person with a background in molecular biology and genetics, and an interest to work in the interface of molecular cell biology and bioinformatics. Work tasks will involve various molecular and cell biological techniques to investigate mechanisms underlying leukemia development in aggressive versus indolent disease. The selected candidate will be involved in multiple ongoing studies in the group.

Qualifications

A Master’s degree in the area of biomedicine or equivalent is required. You should have experience in working with different molecular techniques including nucleic acid extraction, PCR, qPCR, CRISPR-based gene editing, western blot and immunoprecipitation. You should also be familiar with cell culture of both adherent and suspension cell cultures. You are able to organize your work in terms of planning as well as documenting and reporting your findings. You have experience in basic programming and bioinformatics and demonstrate a strong analytical ability. Documented proficiency in regard to writing skills, problem solving and cooperative ability will also be of high relevance for the selection of candidates. Finally, personal qualities will be an important selection criterion.
